London, Day 4

Img_2587

Our last day in London, we began again with our typical London breakfast of fruit from the grocery store and some kind of bakery item (also from the grocery store). Yum!

And of course we brought plenty of Splenda with us... Auntie would be proud!

Grocery store pastries aren't bad at all!

Since it was really rainy, we decided to take the bus instead of bike around. It ended up being a good decision, because there was lots of rain! We visited Covent Garden, which was full of really cute shops,

and lots of British Pride (which was really prevalent everywhere in London!).

There was some lovely live music there!

We walked into the old opera house, and saw some really cool art made of push-pins:

And then stepped back out into the really sad weather:

Before lunch, we took refuge at St. Martin in the Fields church for a lunchtime concert, which was excellent! We really enjoyed it, and the church was beautiful.

Then, we walked to Westminster so we could tour the Houses of Parliament.

The building and grounds are beautiful!

We got to sit in on a session in the House of Lords, which was pretty cool, and we enjoyed exclusive views of Big Ben in the rain.

We then had no idea what to do because it was raining so hard and we were so tired, so we walked across the bridge and used the wifi at the London Eye.

We decided we didn't want to go up because of the weather (and the ridiculously high cost), so we enjoyed our wifi!

And then, we took a double decker bus back to our hotel.

Side note -- I kept seeing these Corona advertisments at the Tube stations, and I thought it was crazy that Corona in Europe uses a different font than they do in the U.S. Weird, huh?

Our last evening, we enjoyed an inventive dinner at Fire and Stone, a hip new pizza place in Old Spitalfields Market. The pizzas all had potatoes on them, which was both different and delicious! We said goodbye to London and hoped for better weather in Bruges! This was only the beginning of our amazing adventure!
