London, Day 3

Our third day in London, we woke up and biked to the British Museum, where we enjoyed listening to Rick Steves' audio guide of the highlights of the museum. The highlight of the museum was the Rosetta Stone. There were also some other cool ancient artifacts and pieces that we enjoyed seeing. 

There was a beautiful garden exhibit outside the museum as well. 

The museum facade is very beautiful, especially with the flowers!  

Afterward, we took a break for lunch at Benito's Hat, a Chipotle-style burrito place. 

It was a very enjoyable lunch, although for the price we prefer Chipotle! 

From there, we headed to the British Library, where we saw some really old Bibles, maps, books, and other documents. The highlight was this bench at the front of the library. 

After visiting these two "must-sees", we weren't super impressed with London museums. We had fun, and saw some cool things, but we honestly have enjoyed NYC museums just the same or more than the London ones we saw. Maybe we're just not museum people?!?

Then we biked/walked around the city, making our way to Harrod's. 

Harrod's was fun to visit, but very crowded and expensive. 

They had some cool hat displays in their windows from the Diamond Jubilee Celebration. 

And I enjoyed seeing the Carr's Silver display! 

I knew about Carr's crackers, but not Carr's silver.

After Harrods, we embarked on a biking adventure. We intended to bike home, but took a few wrong turns, and ended up very lost. Sadly, as well, it was raining, so we ended up soaked. We finally found a place to drop off our bikes, and we were able to then take a fun ride on a double decker bus. It was quite a fun way to see the city in the rain! 

To top off our day, we ate fish and chips (which I can't believe I didn't take a picture of... it was probably due to my exhaustion from biking for 45 minutes intensively in the rain) at Poppy's, which we had been looking forward to for a few days, since we had planned to go there for our first lunch, but didn't get to. It was delicious, but no better than the fish and chips we've had in Boston :) If you want good fish and chips, visit Boston, not London.
