The Kennebec

This past weekend, we traveled back to Maine! We were headed to a small town called Jackman, that is so far north, it is only 15 minutes away from Canada. It took us about 8 hours to get there, with all of our stops at Sonic, WalMart, Target, McDonalds, and numerous gas stations. (We really needed tissues and water shoes - and Sonic!) Our awesomely fun friend, Lisa was brave enough to make the trek with us!

We stopped for dinner in an unknown town in Northern Maine. At this point, we were still over an hour from our destination. Our trip was long. Anyways, once we got to Jackman, we were greeted pleasantly by a beautiful cabin!

The next morning, we woke up bright and early, ate some yummy breakfast casserole that I failed to take pictures of, and headed to the Windfall Outdoor Center. We were ready for a day of whitewater rafting on the Kennebec! It was a glorious day. Our guide Aaron made the trip a blast! We also got to know Kate, who helped us make our reservation, and she was a lot of fun too!

Aaron and Kate recommended we eat at The Bigwood Steakhouse for dinner. It used to be a house, and is now the most popular restaurant in Jackman.

It was BYOB, which we loved!

After our giant dinner, we headed back to the cabin, started us a campfire, and made some s'mores. Yum!

On Sunday morning, Lisa had to leave us before the sun came up, but we had a fun day exploring Maine on our own. Our drive home began with our exploration of Moxie Falls. It was beautiful!

Then we learned we were traveling down Old Canada Road, and enjoyed the scenic views.

We stopped in Augusta for a view of the capitol building.

We tasted wines at Blacksmiths Winery. They were delicous.

And we ended our day back at Bennett's in Kennebunkport. The perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

The Way Life Should Be.

This weekend we drove up to Kennebunkport and Portland, Maine.

We stopped in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to tour the Red Hook Brewery. Brewery tours always teach the same basic steps of how to make beer and the four main ingredients. We love to taste different beers, though! Red Hook wasn't our favorite, but the tour was fun!

Next we headed to Kennebunkport and stopped at the "Wedding Cake House", and "Mainely Quilts".

Then we ate my favorite meal at a place called Bennett's. Yum!

After lunch, we walked along the beach and enjoyed the beautiful weather!

On our way out of Kennebunkport, we stopped to view a little piece of Texas: the Summer Home of the first George Bush. It was fun to see the Texas flag flying.

In the late afternoon, we headed to Portland, where we visited what I will call a mead-ery, a place where they make mead. Mead is an alcoholic beverage made from honey. The honey is combined with water, then yeast is added and the mixture ferments. After fermentation, they add fruit or other flavorings to add a little something extra. The whole experience was very interesting!

At the end of the day, we ate some Portland sushi and headed back to Boston!

The City

Visiting New York City is one of my favorite things to do! I have many favorite places that I love to visit over and over again, and I love the new places I discover each time I visit. My favorite part of any trip to the city, though, is coming back home to Boston!

I have been to New York City many times, but this particular trip was very exciting because it was my mom's first trip! We had such a good time together.

One of my favorite things to do in the city is visit my friend Winnie the Pooh. He lives in the children's section at the New York Public Library on 42nd street. The first time I went to see him, he lived at another branch of the library. The second time he had moved to the main branch of the library, and this last time I visited him, they had surrounded him with beautiful murals of the hundred acre wood and Christopher Robin!

Of course I also love to see the tried and true sights over and over again.

And, I love to eat my favorite city foods!

Museums are also fun to explore.

Finally, the new places I discovered this trip were amazing!
